Raleigh Suspended License--Defense Lawyer

Suspended License Criminal Defense Attorney Serving Raleigh and Wake County

Under certain circumstances, traffic violations can lead to the suspension of your license. Suspension occurs when the state decides you have not conducted your driving in a safe and lawful manner. Often, this is decided by the DMV points system (that is, accruing 12 points on your license within the 3-year experience period) but there are other violations that make you eligible for license suspension. For example, your license can be revoked for 30 days or more if you are convicted of speeding 15mph over the speed limit at a speed of over 55mph. For example, your license could be suspended if you were convicted of going 66mph in a 50mph zone. Reasons for a suspended license are many and can include the following:

Excessive Points on License
Failure to Appear in Court
Hit and Run
DWI
Child Support Delinquency
Failure to Pay Fees and Fines from Court
Failure to Maintain Insurance
Conviction During Revocation Period

More information on the NCDMV’s jurisdiction to suspend and revoke licenses can be found here: N.C.G.S. § 20‑16 and N.C.G.S. § 20‑17.
